Transformative Leadership & Equity Advocate

I am a mother, writer, and organizational scholar-practitioner, living and leading from the spaces in-between. Education and equity are my passions, and I believe in the power of authentic leadership to restore, heal, and inspire transformation within our institutions.

Empowering Change Through Experience
With over 20 years of experience in higher education administration and instruction, I have worked in a variety of roles—spanning marketing, communications, community relations, and student affairs. This breadth of experience has given me a deep understanding of how educational systems operate and how equity can either flourish or fall short depending on leadership choices.

Scholarship for Lasting Impact
My dissertation, “You Won’t Break Our Souls: Women Knowledge Workers in Higher Education Show Themselves Out,” connects directly to the current wave of the Great Resignation and sheds light on the struggles faced by professional staff in higher education. It has been featured in the Chronicle of Higher Education and on NPR, amplifying the voices of those often overlooked in institutional narratives. My research on faculty public scholarship also received the Neuner Award from the Journal of Higher Education Management.

Speaking, Facilitating & Leading Change

As a public scholar and founder of Equity Within, I focus on fostering restorative and equitable leadership in educational settings. I am available to speak and facilitate workshops on:

Transformative Leadership: Inspiring leaders to create cultures of belonging and resilience.

Public Scholarship: Equipping academics translate their research to engage with broader audiences at a time when truth-telling is more important than ever .

Standing Firm During Times of Change: Equipping people and organizations to navigate uncertainty with courage, clarity, and a focus on equity. This talk focuses on building resilience, standing firm in values, and leading with intention through disruptive times.

A Network Committed to Equity

My work is rooted in collaboration and community. The relationships I’ve built within the field extend my ability to advocate for change, allowing me to partner with those equally committed to transforming higher education. I believe in the power of shared knowledge and co-created solutions to dismantle barriers and reimagine what our institutions can become.

Guiding Institutions Toward a Sustainable Future

I support institutions and individuals ready to do the deep, restorative work of equity transformation. By focusing on leadership development, my keynotes and workshops guide organizations in:

  • Recognizing and dismantling systemic inequities.
  • Creating psychologically safe spaces where staff and students thrive.
  • Building lasting internal practices that reflect a true commitment to equity.

Join me in healing education organizations.

If you’re ready to move beyond surface-level commitments and lead your organization through meaningful, restorative change, my work is here to inspire and guide you.
